This policy explains what personal information MR. STAC LLC ("MR. STAC," "we," "us") collects across our services — junk-car cash offers, roadside/towing dispatch, the used-parts marketplace, the business directory, and the StacOS yard-operator platform — and how we use, share, and protect it.
Depending on how you use our services, we may collect:
We do not collect or store payment card numbers — all card payments are processed directly by Stripe, Inc.
We use your information to: provide a vehicle valuation; dispatch roadside assistance, towing, or a vehicle pickup to your location; connect you with licensed SC salvage yards; process scrap/parts transactions in compliance with SC law; operate the StacOS platform and directory; and communicate with you about your request. Yard operators and dispatched drivers receive the name, phone number, location, and vehicle details needed to complete your service. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
By submitting a request (offer, roadside, parts, or account), you consent to be contacted by phone call, text message (SMS), and email about that request and related service updates. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out of non-essential messages at any time by replying STOP or contacting us; we may still contact you as needed to complete a service you requested or as required by law.
When you use the roadside/towing dispatch form and choose to share your location, your device's GPS coordinates are used to locate you for dispatch. To translate coordinates into a readable street address, we send the coordinates to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim reverse-geocoding service. We use precise location only to provide the service you requested; we do not track your location in the background.
For in-person scrap-metal and used-parts purchases, South Carolina law (S.C. Code § 16-17-680) requires us to record the seller's identity. This may include capturing an image of a government-issued photo ID. ID images and identity records are stored securely with our media provider (Cloudinary) and our database, restricted to authorized yard staff, and retained only as long as the law requires (see "Data Retention").
We use Umami Analytics, a privacy-friendly service that does not use cookies or collect personally identifiable information. We use strictly-necessary cookies to maintain your StacOS operator session and dispatch/admin sessions (HttpOnly, Secure). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
We share information only with service providers who help us operate, and only as needed:
Licensed SC salvage yards in our network receive lead and pickup details necessary to serve you. We do not authorize any provider to use your information for their own marketing.
Vehicle purchase and scrap-transaction records — including required identity records — are retained for at least 7 years as required by South Carolina scrap-metal and vehicle-purchase law. Other personal data is retained only as long as needed to provide our services. You may request deletion of personal data that is not subject to a legal retention requirement.
We protect your information with encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, hashed credentials, and signed session tokens. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take commercially reasonable steps to safeguard your data and limit access to authorized personnel.
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data (other than legally required transaction records), and to opt out of non-essential communications. Contact us at [email protected] or 843-933-4068 and we will respond within 30 days.
Our services are intended for individuals 18 and older and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of our services after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
