Recall Guard: every used part checked for safety recalls
Before a used part is listed or priced through MR. STAC, we check the car it came from against the open safety recalls published by NHTSA (the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). Recalled airbag and seat-belt parts are never sold here.
The count so far
- 0 parts and yard prices checked
- 0 blocked from sale
- 0 sold with a recall warning shown to the buyer
Counts start with the first part checked.
How it works
- Airbags, inflators and seat-belt parts: if the car they came from has an open recall on that system, the part is blocked. If we don't know which car it came from, it's blocked too.
- Other parts (steering, brakes, fuel, lighting and more): if the car has an open recall on that system, the part can still be sold, but the recall is shown to you before you buy.
- Every listing and every yard price on the MR. STAC parts network goes through the check, not only our own stock.
What the check can and can't tell
NHTSA lists recalls by year, make and model. A car that already had its recall repaired still shows the recall, so we treat it as open and block the safety part anyway. If a part shows a recall warning, check with a dealer before installing it. You can look up any car's recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
